Summary
A renowned renegade as a teacher, Joe Clark is, with some reluctance of the local educational authorities, appointed to be the new principal of downtrodden, crime-filled, East Side High School in Paterson, NJ. In dramatic fashion, his first steps in transforming the school are identifying and expelling the many troublemakers that make East Side High a dangerous place, but these actions enrage some of the students, parents, and local residents.
