Shelby James recently turned 18 years old and is a native Californian, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She lives with her parents and has one older brother.
As a young girl, Shelby spent 2 years as a Girl Scout and quickly developed a love for Community Service. When she was 9 years old she joined the local 4-H club and remained an active member for the next 7 years, paricipating in animal showmanship with her lamb, Poptart and many of her 8 rabbits. She dabbled in other 4-H programs such as Theatre, Photography, Table setting and Scrapbooking, taking home many Best of Show and First place awards.
In between Shelby spent 2 years taking Tae Kwon Do classes and Tumbling. She has a great love for music, especially Retro Rock and Roll and her favorite band is The Ramones. Along with Retro music, Shelby has a passion for 80's movies and the uncanny ability to mimic and impersonate many of the popular characters of that genre, along with impersonating any family friend or relative she thought interesting, right down to their quirks and mannerisms.
Shelby's first performance was in local theatre, portraying 'Rose' in the Frank Ballasteros production of "Alice in Wonderland". Shortly after the play ended Shelby went on to take lessons in Ice Skating and after her first year was invited to join the Stockton Thunderettes synchro team and skated with the team for the next two years. Her first skate competition resulted in a 2nd Place Award and Shelby enjoyed skating Showcases with the Stockton Figure Skating Club.
Currently, as her Senior Year in High School comes to an end, Shelby, having graduated early, is taking American Sign Language classes at a local community College. She looks forward to her graduation ceremony in June and the numerous possiblities life has to offer. .
