“There is always something left to love. And if you ain’t learned that, you ain’t learned nothing.”- Lorraine Hansberry

Descending from Nigerian, Cherokee and Blackfoot Native American roots, Kitty A. Spivey was born February 19, 1982, as the sun peeked through the first morning clouds. Therefore, why not strive to be the biggest star in the sky???

A native of Plainfield, NJ, Kitty was raised in the true essence of the old school African American child-rearing culture- It takes a community to raise a child. Under the loving guidance of her expansive family, Kitty blossomed from a Queen City tomboy into a beautiful young woman. Kitty began singing, modeling, dancing and writing poetry and short stories in her tender childhood years. Soon after, she discovered her love for acting. She had found her calling and continues to strive unconditionally to reach her apex.

Kitty attended Plainfield Public Schools until the age of 14, where city arts programs, dance and vocal training helped to feed her artistic spirit. She maintained high academic performance and was accepted to The Wardlaw-Hartridge School on Theatre and Academics Scholarship. Some of her many accomplishments include credits from The William H. Cosby Future Filmmakers of America based at NYU Tisch’s Film Academy(Class of 1999), The Governer’s School for the Arts, Gospel Choir Founder and Director, National Spanish Honors Society, National Junior Honors Society, National Merit Scholar Finalist, Who's Who in American High School Students, National Featured Poets Laurette Society, Thespian Society President, Class President, Gospel Music Workshop of America with Kirk Franklin and Hezekiah Walker, and yes, even Captain of the Cheerleading Squad! to name a few. She maintained a 3.8 GPA and graduated with Honors in 2000, after being accepted to Boston University College of Fine Arts, School of Theatre Arts.

Kitty obtained her B.F.A. in Acting and Dance in 2004 from Boston University’s renowned conservatory. In 2003, she studied intensively for 6 months with Europe’s top acting, movement, dance, and voice instructors at the proclaimed LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts). She has starred in plays, independent films and film festivals. She has also taught Acting and Performing Arts to community youth for several years. Kitty’s directing credits include co-director and choreographer of the original, racially explosive play “The Have-Knots” in Boston, MA as well as the films The Color of Love, Remembrance of a Mother, and She, which she also wrote and produced for The William H. Cosby Future Filmmakers of America. In May 2004, Kitty, to much acclaim, starred in the United States premiere of the one-woman Aborginal Australian stageplay “The Seven Stages of Greiving”. This theatrical work brought to light the tribulations of the indigenous Aboriginal Australian race.

For the last year, Kitty has resided in Newark, NJ and modeling has become an extremely successful aspect of her career. She has shot around the country with published and respected photographers such as Jordan Matter, Seven, Patrick Bastien, Lance Tyler, Rochelle Moyd and Eddie Jones. Her new work includes several up and coming fashion lines and urban magazines as well as high fashion runway events. She looks forward to working with you, in bringing your artistic visions to life.
