About me
California, United States
Philip Hersh, originally from Montreal, Canada, knew he was headed for the entertainment industry when he vocally reproduced the sound of a police siren and caused his school bus to pull over.
To this day, his versatile voice has held him in good stead. He voices more than 50 characters and impressions. His voice can be heard in commercials, cartoons, video games, documentary narratives, television shows and as a guest on several radio programs.
Philip’s creative talents and enthusiasm have lead to meaningful opportunities. He worked as Prubear, the goodwill ambassador for Prudential Health Care and promoted good health to children in South Florida Schools. Philip utilized his position as Prubear to reach out to the community and assist many charitable organizations. As a result, Philip was honored for his efforts by being chosen to run with the Olympic Torch during the 1996 summer Olympics.
Philip participated in the National Tour of Read Me A Story with Danny Glover. Phil was Clifford, the Big Red Dog. Working with Danny Glover and promoting literacy was once again a rewarding experience.
Philip is relatively new to Los Angeles. His first film booking resulted in a perfect “Hollywood” story. The lead character was Ari Joseph, an ex-Israeli Commando. Philip was advised to speak in the accent from the onset. He did. His initial phone call led to a meeting with the Director. He was booked on the spot. Upon receiving the good news he decided to come clean about the accent. Before he could, his director said, “ I’m so glad to have a genuine Israeli on board. The last thing I would want is an American who can impersonate an Israeli”. Phil’s response: “When do we start shooting ?”. For the next six months, Philip answered all calls in an Israeli accent. He changed all answering machine messages to an Israeli accent. Philip lived the accent and was believed to be Israeli, until the screening of the film when he finally made a speech and broke out of the accent stunning everyone. Freedom’s Gate has been screened at several film festivals and was the recipient of the 2005 Bronze Remi Award at the Houston Worldfest.
Other notable film roles include: Captain Kirk in the hilarious Sci-Fi comedy, Nerd Wars (Winner at Dragon Con 2002 - best Spoof), Scout Leader/Dad in the ethnic dramedy, Ay Mijo (ABC Talent Development Program)
Philip’s recent Television appearances include: Marilu Henner’s Shape up your Life as a Bodsquad member, and PAX TV’s A Journey Through Aesthetic Realms as a Host.
Notable and recent voice performances include: The voice of “Tornado” in Discovery Communication’s, I Survived (’02 Monitor Award), The Hero in Spellforce’s Shadow of the Phoenix, On-Air announcer for the “Miss Florida USA Teen Pageant”, Weekly spoof guest appearances on the radio show Kolhalev.com/Politics of Terrorism.
