Originially from a small town in Virginia, Emerald never had never really been exposed to drama until college. As a journalist major, she first got the bug for the stage while interviewing a guest director, Jon Menick, at the college she was attending. Instead of her asking the questions, he asked her. "Why aren't you up ther, you know you want to be?" And with that she was bitten. She performed in her first play as "Shelby" in Steel Magnolias the next semester.
After graduating a year early to pursue acting, she worked in the Southeast region before moving on to New York and most currently Los Angeles. .
