• Reality Check Project Advisor and winner- won a limousine for three hours, a trophy for the school and a pizza party for participants
• Received a Certificate of Achievement for attending the Independent Edge Financial Education Program through the University of Michigan credit union in 2006
• Received the Principal’s Award at George Elementary School at my 6th grade graduation. This is the highest award bestowed on two students at the end of each school year, given for Academic Excellence, Citizenship and Leadership.
Extracurricular School Activities
• Member of the YHS Chamber Singers, the gem of the advanced choirs at YHS
• Some of the places we have performed include: Chamber of Commerce monthly breakfast meeting, MEA Statewide Conference, Ypsilanti’s New Year’s Eve Jubilee
• Member of the YHS Concert Choir
• Member of YHS Drama Club, which was the only Michigan school picked to go to the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in August 2007
• Performed in the YHS Spring musical during my freshman, sophomore and junior years

• Have participated in the King/Chavez/Parks program through Eastern Michigan University annually since 7th grade
Community Service
• Assisted with Salvation Army soup kitchen meals
• Worked in The Isaiah Project with church and community, doing minor home repairs, to allow low income families and older adults to live in their homes safely and comfortably, at no cost to them
• Cleaned Crisler arena numerous times during my junior year
• Collected bottles in neighborhoods to help fund our Drama Club’s trip to Scotland
• Participated in the cantata and L.I.G.H.T.S program at Brown Chapel AME church
