From an early age, Timothy J. Cox had a love for performing, doing impressions of George Burns, John Houseman and Marlon Brando for family and friends, yet he never considered becoming an actor until much later.
While still in grade school, Tim (a class clown) was talked into auditioning for the school play, a musical called Rags to Riches. The auditions were held during Math class, which Tim strongly disliked, so he went to the audition and to his surprise won the lead role. He fell instantly in love with being on the stage and getting laughs. “That first time on stage was more memorable than my first kiss.” Tim received some great advice after the first performance. “It was the principal of the school and she said to me that the secret to good acting is listening. I’ve never forgotten that.” He continued to act in high school but it wasn’t until he saw Jack Lemmon’s performance in Days of Wine and Roses that Tim decided that he wanted to make a career out of being an actor. “When I saw what Lemmon did in that film, I was hooked.”
In the fifteen years since that first appearance onstage, Tim hasn’t stopped, essaying close to 100 roles in theatre and film, with appearances in the works of Shakespeare, Moliere, Pinter, Feydeau, Ayckbourn, Simon and many more.
