About me
Westbury, New York, United States
During this whole school year, I have learned so much and I grew more as a person and as actor. One of the lessons that taught me the most was the pantomime lesson. Pantomime is the telling of a story without words, by means of bodily movements, gestures, and facial expressions. In order to determine a successful pantomime performance, it is extremely that the pantomime contains those three main elements. Those elements are appropriate beginning, proper length and appropriate ending. Appropriate beginning is very important because it helps the audience to know when the pantomime starts. It also prevents the audience from being confused or not knowing the specific parts of the pantomime. Proper length is one of the things that actors who are part of that particular have think it through. The pantomime can not be too long or too short especially the middle of the pantomime. Appropriate ending help the audience to know the end of the pantomime, without an appropriate ending the audience won’t be able to know where the pantomime ends. When the performances are lacking these basics elements, it’s a disaster and the audience has no clue of what is going in the pantomime. The pantomime will have no purpose, meaning and message. The audience will have a hard time understanding of the actors’ actions, gestures and expressions. As result, the pantomime becomes a hot mess.
During the pantomime lesson the three broad concepts that that I have learned about acting are strong focus, how to portrait different characters and proper staging of scenery.
