  • About me
    Rhinebeck, New York, United States
Daniel Aron Francis Landa was born in Brooklyn, NY in September 1983. He lived there until the Spring of 1987, when he and his family moved to Rhinebeck NY, where they currently reside. Landa has spent the past decade as a director, actor, writer and producer for regional and professional theatre. He has also worked in the film, TV, newspaper and radio industries.
Landa began his acting career at age 10, when he played a prominent narrator in a regional children’s theatre production of "Brother Eagle, Sister Sky", based on the book of the same name. The play was performed in Rhinebeck NY, under the direction of Marguerite SanMillan, co-founder of Cocoon Theatre. Landa spent the next few years singing with various choral groups. In 1997, he was cast as a member of the 'Cowboy Trio' in the Rhinebeck Performing Arts production of "Crazy For You", which was performed in 1998. Since then, he has played several leading and supporting stage roles in regional theatre, which included ‘Riff’ in "West Side Story", ‘Otto Frank’ in "The Diary of Anne Frank", ‘Doody’ in "Grease", and ‘Linus’ in "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown." In 2000, Landa got his first shot at working alongside major film stars, as he co-starred with veteran actor John Heard in the Rhinebeck Theatre Society production of "Fiorello!".
Acting was just the beginning. Landa’s first endeavor in the professional theatre circuit came around in the fall of 1998, when he was hired by the Ulster County Hero’s Journey Group, to co-write and co-produce an original children’s theatre piece entitled "Before & Beyond". During his time at Dutchess Community College in NY, he was the VP and president of the Masquer’s Guild (the student theatre troupe). In 2003, he directed and co-produced his original play "Fantasy Farce", which was a hit among older viewers. In 2004, he directed another one of his plays, "Stalemate!", for the college’s Black Box Theatre. In March of 2006, he produced, directed and starred in his most acclaimed piece, "Masque", which was showcased at the Black Box Theatre at Marist College, where he is currently matriculated. It sold out two of three performances. As well as directing, writing and acting, Landa has produced a number of other college shows, including "A Chorus Line", "Our Town" and "Rip Van Winkle."
Another form of theatre Landa is heavily involved with is “barbershop harmony”. He is an active member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Specifically, he is a charter member of the “Poughkeepsie New-Yorkers” Chorus. As of October 2006, he is the Associate Administrator of Public Relations and Marketing for the chapter. Last Spring, he co-founded the Dutchess County quartet “Pitchpipe Junction”. He is the tenor of the quartet.
Aside from the theatre, Landa has been involved with television and film. With PANDA Studios in NY, he has performed on the children’s TV series “Hot Rod’s Gang” (1998-2000), as well as “Evening Entertainment” (1998-present). He also co-wrote a holiday greeting for PANDA, which was aired in December 1999. Film credits have included "Lost & Found" (DCC Communications), "Alaska: Land of the Midnight" Sun (Kern Multimedia), and "Mr. Gibb" (Trigger Street).
Landa is an avid cartoonist and radio personality. He has drawn editorial cartoons for newspapers such as The Dutchess Chronicle and The Circle. In 2002, he co-hosted his premier radio show for WDCC Radio, in Poughkeepsie, NY. After the end of this show’s run, He developed a talent for voice-over work, especially narration.
He recently played 'Spider-Man' at the "Spider-Man 3" Action Figures Showcase/Convention (made possible by Hasbro Toys, Sony Pictures and the Marvel Characters Appearence Program Company), which was presented at Wal-Mart locations across the USA! He will be playing 'Spidey' in more live events to come. This past fall, he had his Off-Broadway debut at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre in NYC's West Village. Other recent credits include "The Crucible" and "Romeo & Juliet". He is set to start filming the new feature-length fan film "Inspector Gadget 3", in which he will perform the role of the title character.
