I relocated to the New York area from Pittsburgh, in hopes of being an actress. I know that this is an extremely common occurrence and I am sure that you have received hundreds of responses to your casting notice, so of course you are sure that mine is no different than all the rest. However, I implore you to take a moment to read this entire letter and look at my photo and consider meeting with me.

I graduated Cum Laude from Drew University, with a Behavioral Science Major and an English Minor. While I realize my lack of formal acting training, I fully believe that I make up for some of it with life experience. I have been involved in situations that I would not wish upon others, but they have given me a vast wealth of experience from which to grow and work. I am hardworking and willing to work my way from the bottom - up. I am not looking for a hand out, simply a helpful foot in the door.

I just finished work on my first independent feature, as the lead actress, as well as completing a short film. This has enabled me to better understand the entire scope of making a film as well as helping me to gain much needed on camera experience. The projects helped me to grow in both confidence of myself as an actor and a young woman. I believe that the more I work with kind, hardworking individuals in this field the better I will become.

I am not asking to be the next Merle Streep or Glenn Close overnight, though to have the type of career both have had would be wonderful. I just want a chance. I have always taken that path less followed in my life, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst. But I feel that branching out and following a dream is not the worst path. The worst path would be letting that dream die in order to follow a “safer” path. I am sure that you are asking yourself, “Why is this girl any more special than others that have followed their dreams?” Perhaps I am not. But in my own eyes, I see a young woman who is not afraid to get knocked down, not afraid to get right back up again and go another round. I want to act more than I have ever wanted anything in my life. I want to go to work everyday and give something back to those watching. I want to tug at their heart-strings, make them laugh, make them cry. I want to make people re-think their lives and the lives of those around them, all the while doing something that I love.

I feel if you take the time to meet with me, you will better see the kind of person that I am. In my own opinion, I am much more charming and charismatic in person, than on paper. I am the spunky, intellectual, girl-next-door, with a smile that will brighten your day and a bit of sarcastic wit that will keep you on your toes. Please consider me, and my dream.
