Devin Valdez is a recent graduate of Sacramento State University and received her Bachelor’s of Art in Theatre. While attending CSUS, she studied with Ed Brazo (acting/musical theatre), Michelle Felten (acting, voice/movement, audition technique), Dr. Roberto D Pomo (script analysis, theatre history, Chicano/a theatre, multiculturalism), Art Gruenberger (puppetry, manipulation/technique), Andonia Cakouros (children’s theatre). She also studied dance under Philip Flickinger (beg/int. modern), Lisa Ross (jazz), Nolan T’Sani (ballet), and Nicole Manker (African-Caribbean dance). Recently, she worked alongside Michael Stevenson, Artistic Director of Capital Stage in Sacramento, CA, as an assistant director for STUPID F##CKING BIRD which ran May 3 through June 4, 2017. She has also recently performed with Teatro Espejo as Lelly Santiago in a production of WELCOME TO ARROYO’S. Some of her favorite roles include Miss Electra & Miss Cratchitt in GYPSY, the various roles in TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES, 1992, Hold-Me Touch-Me in THE PRODUCERS and Logainne Schwartzandgrubinere in THE PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. She has even had the honor of originating a role in CHE GUEVARA & THE DISPOSSESSED by her mentor, Dr. Roberto D. Pomo. When she isn’t singing, dancing or acting, she can be found knitting or drinking copious amounts of coffee.
