"Drex" is the name of the Latin American (reggeaton/hip hop latino/spanish rap) artist Charle Mateo, born in Santo Domingo, Dom. Rep. on 2/18/83. Charles who was raise in a good latin family came to america at the age of nine, and attended school in New York City. Charles wasn't Drex's name before he came to the U.S. his real name was Carlos Jose Mateo Jr; But in 1997 when he became a citizen of the U.S. Immigration granted him the right to change his name if he wanted to do so, which he quickly did. Drex graduated from an alternative high school in Manhattan, N.Y.
Before Drex had even step on the U.S. he has always been interested in all type of music. None of his family members are musicians, but Drex has always shown alot of interest to the art. He claims that "since the age of six he always wanted to be a star just like Michael Jackson"(whom drex has always adiolized alot since an early age, and later in life stop admiring because of unknown reasons). Drex is also interested in sports, his favorite one is "Basketball" he claims; But as he grew he knew his destiny was bound to music.
Now Drex is showing the world, that it doesn't matter where you come from, but as long as your motive are positive you will always find a way to achieve your dreams. "Never give up" its what Drex is trying to express with his music, eventhough some might find his work to be a little eroctic.
