BIOGRAPHY


Ashaki Millner has been in films and shorts, as well as worked behind the scenes of commericals and t.v shows. Working production, hair and make-up, talent, producing and segment writing Ashaki's experiences as an actress includes supporting roles in films, which have been in film festivals. She has played various roles in shorts that were created by undergrads of City College, NYU, and Independent filmmakers. She also has experience hosting segment shows on Public access network stations.
Besides her speaking capabilities, she believes that her training as well as her long list of skills has some affect on her obtaining roles. Her skills includes running, volleyball, swimming, kickboxing, yoga, boxing, weight lifting, all phases of dance, stage combat, tennis, hair braiding, snorkeling, paying attention to details and able to cry on cue. These skills are in no special order.
She's a serious actress who has a strong passion and dedication to the business. She has confidence and the drive to make it. Ashaki strongly believes in continous training and crafting her skills. She states "No matter what level your on there is always something you can improve upon."
She's very comfortable in front of a camera as well as being interviewed. She was recently interviewed by Bronx 12 news regarding her acting class experiences and powerful performances.
Ashaki believes that her passion, life experiences and curiosity bring her closer to those around her. Being friendly, fun, articulate and serious about her career, that's what people remember most about her.
What Ashaki loves about acting? " Imitating life" She said. Morgan Freeman in the movie Glory inspired her to want to put out a message through her actions and emotions as well as her words. Ashaki remembers learning, crying and understanding what it meant to be believable. Inspirations started with Morgan Freeman's believable character, Cicely Tyson, Pam Grier, Gabrielle Union, Vivica A. Fox, and Tisha Campbell's abilities to define black woman as working Actresses. As well as Denzel Washington, Jim Carey, Oprah Winfrey, Angela Bassett, John Travolta for their beliefs in oneself and not giving up. Last Jada Pinkett-Smith who left college to pursue her dreams; Jada's accomplishments are stepping-stones being that Ashaki has some of the same goals.
In conclusion, Ashaki believes and practices crafting her skills. She loves what she does so much that she has the ability to adjust in any environment to get a reaction from her audience. It is more than a drive, more than training, it is the feeling and postive thinking that she loves what she does.
