Robert Acinapura has loved to entertain an audience ever since he was a child. In his early years, he portrayed such a spark and energy that he was the only kindergartener in his school's history asked to emcee their annual Winter-Fest. Growing up, Robert used musical theatre as an outlet for his creativity, where he starred as many lead roles. Robert also learned the importance of hard work and dedication through his martial arts studies, where he eventually earned his second degree black belt ... Morein Shudokan karate at the age of sixteen. These morals instilled a sense of discipline and patience that have helped Robert immensely on his path to becoming a singer.
An active participant in school choir and private voice lessons, Robert studied classical, jazz, and musical theatre, and used these techniques to help him sing any genre he wished. In high school, Robert anchored the tenor section of his Jazz Choir, being voted as "Most Outstanding" and "Most Inspirational" by his peers. Robert also participated in any opportunity he could to perform on stage and he became popularly known around the school and community, being called upon to perform the national anthem at sporting events, such as the football team's state championship game at the Tacoma Dome and for a Seattle Mariner's baseball game. He also sang at talent shows and school ceremonies, and performed in benefit concerts for the Make a Wish Foundation and the Mercy Corp Foundation. Notably, Robert performed at the Sammamish Awards two years in a row, a ceremony that honors individuals in the community and airs on local television.
Prompted by the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, Robert wanted to organize an event using the talents of himself and his peers to raise money for the American Red Cross. He spent the fall of his senior year creating and organizing âSongs for Katrinaâ, a benefit concert that showcased the actors, singers, dancers, and instrumentalists of his high school. He performed in and emceed the event as well, and garnered support and contributions from local businesses. The show successfully raised $2,700 for relief efforts.
Robert has participated in numerous vocal competitions, earning awards such as 1st place in the musical theatre division of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) two years in a row. He was also one of twenty students from different states selected to compete in a musical theatre competition in Sacramento, and was one of five tenors from Washington chosen to sing in the Washington All-State Vocal Jazz group. Robert was also asked to be a demo vocalist for a Karaoke company, which allowed him to be flown to Las Vegas to perform in front of the thousands that attended the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the largest electronics event in the country. Jerry Choe, responsible for signing talent such as Debbie Gibson to promote his karaoke product said, "Robert's performance was unmatched and he promises to be a star. Judging from his talents, I as president of Leadsinger, would do anything in my ability to support him and his career." Before leaving Seattle, Washington to pursue his career further in Los Angeles, Robert won first place in his cityâs âBattle of the Idolsâ competition and he worked extensively with V.H. Productions, an artist development company that prepares vocalists for deals with major labels.
Not the type to ever be classified as one-dimensional, Robert has been trained in film and stage acting and participated in many school and community productions. Robert has also been trained in dance styles such as hip hop, ballet, tap, and jazz. Robert's passion for singing and performing, along with his other knowledge and talents, will allow him to be a large crossover force in the entertainment industry.
