I'm Ebru, and I began my journey in Istanbul,Turkey. I have lived here in the US for 11 years, and am very grateful for it. My parents always wanted me to do what I wanted to do... as long as they approved of course. I grew up to a very conservative family. My parents always wanted me to stop wasting my time with acting, dancing, and singing. For awhile I did, but I realized if I don't perform, I can't do anything else. I'm still in school, but what I want to be has nothing to do with taking pre... More-med classes. I grew up in a little apartment, with neighbors so cold, it was like the kiss of a stepmother. The only thing that got me through the day when I was young was the TV. Yes, the electronic babysitter. My mom said since I could talk I would sing, and when I could walk I would dance. She didn't and still doesn't want to admit that I loved performing.
I remember back in Turkey, I would call their top radio station and sing. Or reenact a scene from a soap. See, they had this segment on Sundays for ages 2-9 to call and perform on the radio. I loved the feeling, of feeling. That's what acting does to me, it makes me feel. I don't care if I look stupid, strange, or silly. I talk a lot, and I dream a lot. Hopefully one of those dreams will come true! ;)
I don't know what else to say to explain myself better. I can only express myself through what I think and know how I act and behave, but others may perceive me differently. My journey still lives here in the desert of AZ. This place is the total opposite of Istanbul. Istanbul was a clash between the sights and scenes of NYC and San Fran. I loved it there so much, but I wouldn't have had all the opportunities I have here. Even though it may be in the desert. The people here in AZ are really kind and sincere, something far different than a big, horrendous city. Now do I believe in fate, in destiny? Yes, I believe everything around me happens for a reason. My aunt always told me that if you just look at your right, your left, you'll figure out whether to go forward or back the way you came. So I could either go back to Turkey become a doctor, or stay here in the US land of dreams, and make one happen! For now I'll stay here! Less
