Michael Maupins
Dancer
in Amarillo, Texas, United States
Christopher Maupins has been a child of the stage since the age of 8. He has been singing for just as long and thanks to his many music teachers Mrs. Nichols, Mrs. Lucy Majors, Mrs. Amy Nelson, and Mrs. Ann Baldwin. They helped him to continue on with his passion for music. When Mr. Maupins got older he started to gain a passion for movement and dance as well and his talent was notice and fine-tuned by the late Joan Bart and is still being tweaked and adjusted by Mrs. Beverly Long, Jean Ma... Morerie Ford. He is motivated and inspired by the great Bob Fosse, Alvin Ailey, and Debbie Allen. Christopher is also working towards becoming a choreographer, something that has in the last few years started to become more and more enticing to him.
Maupins was a member the THS Singers also known as the THS AristoCats for 3 years. This group is made up of sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have auditioned for a panel of judges. During his junior year of high school he was also selected to attend the Tennessee Governorâs School for the Arts where he studied vocal music performance. During his summer he got to work with Mrs. Pam Gaston, Mr. Stephen Smith, and Dr. Raphael Bundage who are all very strong vocalist in their respective musical teachings. Christopherâs home stage where he got his start is at South Jackson Civic Center in Tullahoma TN where you can still find him performing on occasion. Maupins has started spreading his wings a bit and has also performed in Memphis TN., Nashville Tn., Woodbury Tn., Murfreesboro Tn., Manchester TN., Winchester TN. and is currently preforming with the Lone Star Ballet Company in Amarillo TX.
